Wirtschaftsschule Five (WSF) offers education and continuing education programs in several Swiss cantons. With strong growth, manual planning became a bottleneck.

BIM data in business apps: research for the construction industry

In a project funded by Innosuisse, we worked with FHNW to explore how BIM data can be connected to workflows in business apps on the Microsoft Power Platform.

Challenge

  • Building data lives in BIM models, while the processes around construction often run separately.
  • The open question: how well can BIM data in IFC format be used in apps and workflows?

How do construction companies use business app platforms today, and where is the potential?
Prototype
Select IFC models in a mobile app and view them in 3D.
Interoperability tested
Where do BIM and the platform work together, and where are bridges still missing?
